‘Jesus Called the Children to Him’

Uncategorized // December 26, 2021 //

Wow, I can’t believe the 2021 year is coming to an end but our children’s ministry is only beginning! It has been a joy serving as your Children’s Ministry Coordinator the past 4 months!

My goal this upcoming year is to partner with the parents and volunteers to love and encourage these children as they grow in their relationship with Christ.

A child’s faith is so important to Christ. In Luke it says, “Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it’” Luke 18:16-17. It is our goal as a church to partner with your families to do just that!  Here are some ways I think we can work together to make this happen.

  1. Be a Model

Kids watch and absorb even the smallest of things. Together we need to model a godly example for our Children at Coats Baptist. Children need consistent teaching from you at home and from our volunteers at church. Jesus is our model, so that is the model we need to illustrate to our children. Of course, there will be times where we fail and fall short of the glory of God but it’s in those moments that we model the grace and forgiveness that has been shown to us through Jesus!

2. Be Present

Be present in your child’s life. Not in a way that makes them feel like you are constantly looking over their shoulders but in a way that shows them who you are in Christ and who you want them to be in Christ. Technology is continuing to grow among our children today, they have access to the things of the world far quicker than before. Allow your children to come to you and be their safe place. Be present in their church life. Get to know your child’s Sunday school teacher or small group leader! Work together to create a safe place for your child to come in times of stress or worry.

3. Get Involved!

Of course, we would love for you to get involved in the Children’s ministry as a volunteer but we understand it’s not for everyone! Find what interest you and let your child watch you serve in the church! By you getting involved in the church you are modeling what you want for them when they grow up! You only have 936 weeks with your child from 0-18 years old, don’t waste it! The church is here for you to be a help and a partner for you and your family!

What are you going to do in 2022 to ensure you have the right partnership with your church to raise them to be disciples of Christ?

Here is some exciting things that will be happening in the 2022 Children’s Ministry at Coats Baptist! We will be kicking off a new series on Wednesday nights, we will have VBS and introduce family activity nights in the summer, and finally in the fall we will kick off a 5 month Bible Study where kids will search the truths of the Bible and create personal devotional habits!

Just like me, our children’s ministry is learning and growing, and continues to do so! I look forward to serving you and your families in 2022! Please contact me, @haley@coatsbaptist.com if you have any questions, or if you would like to volunteer!
